Known as the "Oscars" of the water industry, the Global Water Awards represent the most prestigious and influential recognition across the international water sector. "Industrial Project of the Year" is one of its 15 award categories, reflecting the industry's high recognition of the project's technical strength, engineering delivery and comprehensive value.

The Saudi Jafurah Desalination Project is a key supporting infrastructure for Saudi Aramco's unconventional gas field in eastern Saudi Arabia. Integrating seawater desalination, intake-outfall works, power transmission & distribution and pipeline networks, it provides strong support for local energy development and water resource security.

Derun Offshore undertook the core construction of the marine intake-outfall works and the laying of the 40-kilometre long-distance water transmission pipeline. On site, the project faced complicated hydro-geological conditions and persistent extreme challenges including high temperatures, drought and raging sandstorms.The project team coordinated resources scientifically, iteratively optimized construction plans, overcame difficulties, and completed all works on schedule with high quality — delivering essential support to the overall project delivery.
